Cameron softball splits doubleheader with Midwestern State

The Cameron softball team split a Lone Star Conference doubleheader with rival Midwestern State in Wichita Falls, Texas, on Sunday evening. The Aggies dropped game one 11-8, but rebounded to win game two 10-2 in five innings.

The Aggies led game one 6-1 as late as the fourth inning, but two five-run frames by the Lady Mustangs gave them the come-from-behind win. Midwestern State drilled three home runs in their game one victory.

In game two, Cameron got off to a great start as Chelsea DeLong hit a grand slam in the top of the second inning. From there, the Aggies picked up two runs in the third on a Jessie Ingrum single, three in the fourth inning on a Sonora Zukerman home run, and one in the fifth as DeLong singled home Carly Allerheiligen.

Cameron is now 32-13 on the season. The Aggies and Mustangs will wrap up their four-game series with a doubleheader on Monday starting at 4 pm.
