MOUNDS, Okla._A four-month old Oklahoma boy is on the road to recovery after his parents were arrested for child abuse.

Cody Haynes, 25, and Amanda Haynes, 23, face multiple felony charges after authorities in Creek County found the infant suffering from starvation. Earlier this month, paramedics responded to a call of a baby in distress and found the child in cardiac arrest. The doctor treating the child told an OSBI agent that the boy suffered from starvation and was in critical condition. The doctor spoke to the agent again several days later and explained the child was emaciated and appeared he was deprived of food for quite some time.

The father was out of work and the mother stayed at home. Amanda Haynes told investigators that she recently cut back on the infant's formula. She also admitted to not taking him to any wellness checks or medical appointments.

The home had very little furniture and only spoiled milk in the refrigerator. Four of the five children slept on the floor in one bedroom, the parents in another bedroom and the infant slept on the living room floor.

Amanda and Cody Haynes turned themselves in at the Sapulpa Police Department Saturday. They were booked into the Creek County Jail on one felony count of child abuse and four felony counts of child neglect.

The four older children are in DHS custody. The infant is likely to remain in the hospital for several weeks.
