Altus approves drinking water loan

ALTUS, Okla._The Altus City Council approved a $2.3 million drinking water loan Tuesday

The funds from the Oklahoma Water Resources Board will be used to construct a new 12-inch water line, parallel to an existing 18-inch line, in hopes of bringing in more water from the Round Timber Ranch Well Field. The rest of the money will go toward maintenance, such as upgrades to treatment and distribution facilities.

The projects are expected to produce an additional 2-3 million gallons of water per day for the city.
