Veterans to get help applying for benefits

DUNCAN, Okla._Veterans and their spouses can get help applying for benefits and pensions Friday in Duncan, and it's all free of charge.

"They know they deserve them. They don't know how to file for them. When they get a letter in, they're very confused. So, they're invited to come back here with it and we talk them through it to do what must be done to get the VA the data they need to favorably view the individual's claim," said Bud Phillips, Lawton/Fort Sill Veterans Center.

Phillips says a number of veteran services officers will be on hand to answer any questions and help you file. They will be at the American Legion located at 321 S Highway 81 in Duncan. They'll be there Friday from 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.
