Altus police investigate irrigation district burglary

ALTUS, Okla._Altus police are investigating a burglary involving the Altus-Lugert Irrigation District.

Police believe the suspect, or suspects, dug under the fence on the east side of the yard between Wednesday night and 6:30 a.m. Thursday. Approximately 20 vehicles belonging to Altus-Lugert Irrigation District were broken into. Small amounts of change and various miscellaneous items were taken from the vehicles. Police say an ATV was taken from a workshop and driven around the yard before being damaged. The workshop also had a few windows broken.

Damage to the ATV and the workshop is estimated at $5,000.

Police are encouraging anyone with information about this crime to contact the Altus Jackson County Crime Stoppers at 580-482-TIPS (8477). You can remain anonymous and you could be eligible for a cash reward.
