Former deputy arrested for stealing drug evidence

WILBURTON, Okla._A former Latimer County deputy and National Guardsman was arrested Thursday morning for stealing drug evidence while working as a deputy.

Missing drug evidence was found in former deputy Bobby Joe Eubanks' patrol vehicle when the sheriff cleaned out Eubanks' vehicle shortly after firing Eubanks. The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation, at the request of the Latimer County sheriff, was asked to investigate the case.

Eubanks was in charge of drug evidence at the department when he was employed. The missing drug evidence was determined to be meth when it was tested by OSBI in 2011. OSBI interviewed Eubanks and he admitted to stealing evidence twice to help him cope with PTSD. Eubanks was deployed to Afghanistan while in the Army National Guard before working as a deputy.

Eubanks was arrested outside the Latimer County Sheriff's Office just before noon Thursday.
