Oklahoma appeals court upholds manslaughter conviction

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ The Oklahoma Court of Criminal Appeals has upheld the first-degree manslaughter conviction and 13-year prison sentence of an Altus man.

In a ruling dated Thursday, the court rejected claims by 26-year-old Forrest Kyle Barfield of insufficient evidence, an excessive prison sentence and improper jury instructions.

Barfield was convicted in Kiowa County in June 2014 in the stabbing death of 53-year-old Thomas Kent Bell during a fight at a home in Snyder.
