Hollywood actor stars in Lawton Community Theatre play

LAWTON, Okla._A Lawton native who's made a career in Hollywood has returned home to put on a one-man show Saturday, April 25, at the Lawton Community Theatre.

Rudy Ramos stars in the play entitled "Geronimo, Life on the Reservation." The play focuses on the resiliency, humor and genius of the great Apache warrior and shows the evolution of the man from a surrendered Native American leader to a celebrity and entrepreneur. Ramos says he chose to perform in this show not just because it honors Geronimo's life and legacy, but because it shows a different side of the man.

"I've never seen a Geronimo movie, but I understand that there's been three. And they all do the warrior Geronimo and he's always painted as the villain of the piece. I never saw him that way. So, what I'm doing with this story is I feel that I'm giving him a voice that he never had. The other side of the story and I'm showing him the respect that I think he deserves," said Ramos.

Ramos has performed in films alongside actors such as Eddie Murphy and Clint Eastwood. The play starts Saturday at 8:00 p.m. at the Lawton Community Theatre, 1316 NW Bell Ave, Lawton, OK. Tickets are $20 each.
