Community Youth Garden planted

LAWTON, Okla_ Saturday, one east Lawton garden was dedicated to show children what can be done with a little work ethic, and a little fun.

The garden is behind United In Christ Discipleship International. They planted everything from vegetables like squash and tomatoes to fruits like cantaloupe and watermelon.

Bishop Michael Collins says they hope it not only brings the kids out to show them how to grow, but also their families out. So, everyone can enjoy the fruits of their labor.

"From the planting to the maintenance of the garden and then to seeing the first fruit come up as well as picking those fruits and vegetables. They are going to see that when they work hard they will receive something from their labor," Collins said.

The land was donated to them by the landlord and supplies and seeds were donated from Home Depot.
