US Rep. Lucas schedules 6 town hall meetings in district

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - U.S. Rep. Frank Lucas has scheduled six town hall meetings in his western Oklahoma district.

Lucas says he'll discuss current events in Washington and take questions from residents at the meetings across the 3rd Congressional District.

Four meetings will be May 6 with stops planned the Hook N Slice Grill in El Reno; the Fire Station Community Room in Hinton; the Stanley Building in Hobart; and at Days Inn in Altus.

Two Stops are scheduled the following day, in Mangum and Hollis. The stops will be at the Mangum Senior Citizen's Center and the Hollis Civic Center.

    Empire Public Schools decided to close their doors today due to an influx of the flu virus. As of January 18th, about 50 students in Pre-K through 5th grade were absent from school. That's about 20 percent of their enrollment. Empire Mayor Perry Brinegar says staff and workers spent the morning cleaning and disinfecting classrooms, hallways, and different areas (gyms, buses, lunchroom). School will resume Monday morning.
