Senior center feeds displaced Lawtonian residents

LAWTON, Okla._A local senior center is opening its doors to the dozens of residents displaced from the Lawtonian Apartments last Friday.

The Center for Creative Living in Lawton welcomes residents to enjoy a free lunch at the center. They're also invited to participate in their daily activities until they are able to move back into their homes. According to Lorene Miller, the center's director, when seniors at the center heard about the Lawtonian's residents being forced from their homes, they decided to step up do what they could.

“We receive funds from other people and we have little fundraisers, so it's nice to give back. So, the seniors wanted to give back and help them,” explained Miller.

Lunch is served from about 11:00 a.m. until noon, and the center is open from 8:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. The Center for Creative Living is located at 3501 SW Dr. Elsie Hamm Drive.

Miller says it will be offered to the Lawtonian's residents for as long as they need it.
