DAVIE, Fla. (AP) - The Miami Dolphins have selected Oklahoma nose tackle Jordan Phillips in the second round of the NFL draft.

The Dolphins made the choice Friday after trading down five picks to No. 52 overall. They gave the Eagles the 47th overall pick and acquired two additional fifth-round picks.

Phillips becomes a potential protege for All-Pro defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh, who signed a $114 million, six-year contract with Miami in March. The pick was a surprise because the Dolphins had more pressing needs at cornerback, linebacker and guard.

The 6-foot-5, 330-pound Phillips started only 17 games in four years at Oklahoma, including 13 last year. He missed most of the 2013 season and underwent season-ending back surgery.

Miami took Louisville receiver DeVante Parker with the 14th overall choice Thursday.
