Former state Senator speaks at Cameron University

LAWTON, Okla_ One of Oklahoma's former state Senators was in Lawton Saturday to speak to a crowd of 200 at Cameron University.

Constance Johnson spoke at a luncheon put on by the Delta Sigma Theta sorority. The goal of the luncheon was to show the strides women have taken and how they can and are leaders in the community. Sheryl White organized the luncheon and says Johnson will be an inspiration to all who attended.

"To our young women, to our girls, who are out here that may sometimes have low self esteem. This will give those children an opportunity to say, 'Hey I can do this. I can be who I want to be'," White said.

This was the first luncheon put on by the sorority to highlight women in the state.
