Oklahoma salvages win in Bedlam finale

After dropping the first two games of the Bedlam baseball series, No. 25 Oklahoma finally got in the win column against rival, No. 11 Oklahoma State, as the Sooners nipped the Cowboys 5-3 on Sunday at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.

Oklahoma got out to a 2-0 lead after two innings, but a Donnie Walton home run in the top of the fifth inning got the Cowboys even at 2-all.

Then, in the bottom of the seventh, with the game tied at three, Anthony Hermelyn put Oklahoma ahead for good with a 2-run home run to left field.

The win runs the Sooners' record to 30-21, 11-7 in Big 12 action, while Oklahoma State drops to 31-15, 14-7 in conference play, and into second place behind TCU.

The Cowboys wrap up Big 12 play next weekend at home against bottom dweller West Virginia, while the Sooners have two more conference series remaining. Oklahoma will hit the road next weekend to face Kansas State, then return to Norman to face TCU May 14-16.
