Man charged with exploiting his elderly mother

LAWTON, Okla._A Lawton man has been charged with taking advantage of his elderly mother, who is suffering from Alzheimer's and dementia.

Court records show 56-year-old Garner Earp started using his mother's bank card in October 2014 at various businesses and ATMs. In three months, Earp spent about $4,000 of his mother's money.

Earp was supposed to be taking care of his mother, who cannot drive or make purchases, but police say he did not have permission to use the card. He's being held on a $25,000 bond.

Earp will be back in court at the end of July.
