Elgin Fire Department prepares for Crawds 'n' Rods

ELGIN, Okla._Rain or shine, the party will go on this weekend in Elgin at the 12th annual Crawds ‘n' Rods.

It's the Elgin Fire Department's biggest fundraiser of the year and they hope to raise $20,000. Registration for the car show will start at 8:00 a.m. Saturday with the grand prize winner taking home $1,500. Then at 11:00 a.m., it's all-you-can-eat fresh crawfish from Louisiana. Fire Chief Mike Baker says the money they raise will go toward the fire prevention program for kids.

"Knock on wood, we haven't had a lot of structure fires in our town, or in our area, and we like to think a lot of it has to do with the time we spend with the children teaching them. Every year after the program, we will have a parent or a teacher or someone comes and thank us," said Chief Baker.

This year's car raffle is for a '67 Chevy Camaro with a block 502 engine in it. It's been so popular they've already sold all 600 raffle tickets for it.
