Lightning damages airport tarmac

LAWTON, Okla._A lightning strike is responsible for temporarily shutting down the Lawton-Fort Sill Regional Airport Wednesday.

The bolt blew out several chunks of concrete from the tarmac. Airport manager Barbara McNally says the airport was shut down for around 11 hours as crews used asphalt to patch the 3- to 4-foot hole. McNally said the patch is only temporary. An engineer is working on plans for permanent repairs.

The airport resumed all flights Wednesday evening.
