Comanche artists featured in exhibit

LAWTON, Okla._The work of three contemporary Comanche artists was showcased in an art exhibit at the Comanche National Museum and Cultural Center in Lawton Thursday night.

In the opening reception for the Pahiitu exhibit, attendees were able to visit with the three featured artists and get a firsthand look at their work. Artists and organizers said they are happy to share their culture with the community.

“As long as there are people around, there are stories to write about and there are paintings to paint. So, that's been my inspiration all along," said featured artist Ed Hoosier.

"This museum is an educational museum. We're here to let the community know exactly how the Comanche's are. You know you see different Comanche's in the community but do you really know who they are? Come here to our museum and you're able to find out," said Candy Morgan, museum director.

The Pahiitu exhibit will be on display until August 29. The museum is located at 701 Northwest Ferris Avenue, behind McMahon Auditorium. Admission is free.
