Lawton letter carriers "Stamp Out Hunger" Saturday

LAWTON, Okla._Postal workers from across the country are gearing up for the largest single-day food drive in the nation.

As part of "Stamp Out Hunger," letter carriers in Lawton will be collecting food donations along their routes. The food will be donated to the Salvation Army and the Lawton Food Bank.

Lawton Postmaster J.T. Hoffman says his workers are always impressed with how the community comes together to help those in need.

"The Lawton community always supports this wholeheartedly and I expect them to do the same thing this year as well, and we have got volunteers that will be out picking up food for the ones that get a lot of food on specific routes," said Hoffman.

Last year, the drive collected more than 40,000 pounds of food from the citizens of Lawton alone.
