Lawton moves back to Stage 2 water restrictions

LAWTON, Okla._It's hard to believe that Southwest Oklahoma is still considered to be in a drought with all of the recent rain, but we are making progress and now the City of Lawton has some good news.

City officials say starting Monday, water restrictions for town will be moved from Stage 3 back to Stage 2.

Residents will now once again be able to water every other day from midnight to 9 a.m. -- even-numbered houses will water on even-numbered days, while odd-numbered houses will be on odd-numbered days.

The change comes after the combined capacity of Lawton's three water sources, Lakes Lawtonka, Ellsworth and Waurika Lake, have risen to above 50 percent collectively.
