Barrel race to support cancer research

DUNCAN, Okla._In support of cancer research, the Relay for Life organization in Stephens County will host a barrel race this Saturday.

It's open to riders of all ages. 30% of the entry fee money will goes to cancer research. Last year, about 300 contestants competed in the various events. Organizers say it's a fun way to offer a competition that includes prize money for the top finishers, while helping those who are battling cancer.

"We feel like it's very important. Not only are we giving back to our community and in doing an event for people to come out and watch and also be a part of,” Relay for Life Co-Captain Kenneth Johnson said.

The event is located at the Claud Gill Arena in Duncan this Saturday. Contestants can sign up at 9 a.m. and the events start at 10 a.m.

Concessions will be available and relay for life will have t-shirts on sale.
