USPS warns against email scam

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla._There is a new scam targeting Oklahomans that involves hackers posing as the United States Postal Service to try and get your personal information.

The scam is disguised as an email claiming there's a problem with one of your shipments. The email directs you to a link to download a new shipping label, but experts say whatever you do, don't click the link.

“There's ransomware that will lock your files, hold it hostage, tell you that you have so many days to pay so much money," explained Doug Maurer, a computer tech.

Even if you do pay the money, there's no guarantee your personal information is safe. The USPS advises people to delete the email immediately. They are working to shut down the program.
