MacArthur sprinters dominate at State

For the second year in row, MacArthur's sprinters dominated the Class 5A boys State Track Meet.

A day after winning the 4x200 meter relay, the Highlanders' 4x100 meter squad of Walter Neil, Jacques Henderson, Lorenzo West and Devontrae Young topped every team in Class 5A and Class 6A by more than a second, winning gold in 41.58 seconds.

Mac's sprinters weren't done there. Henderson took first place in both the 100 and 200 meter sprints, and West ran to a second place finish in the 400 meter run. Overall, the Highlanders were the 2015 Class 5A State runner-ups.

The Duncan girls team also had a good day. The Lady Demons finished second overall in Class 5A and had multiple individuals finish in the top three. Hurdler Rebecca Brewer won both the 100 meter hurdles and the 300 meter hurdles, and freshman thrower Connor Roddy took gold in the discus. Sprinter Skylar Standokes got second place in the 100 meters and long distance runner Mason Bivens finished third in the 1600 meters.

Elsewhere around the area, Altus' Ben McBrayer came from behind on the final straight-away to win the boys 300 meter hurdles. In the boys 4x400 meter relay, Lawton High brought home a silver medal. Eisenhower long jumper Romio Harvey finished second with a jump of 21 feet, 11 inches, and the Eagles' Donte Thorne also got second place in the discus, throwing 164-5.
