Fort Sill deploys more than 100 soldiers

FORT SILL, Okla._Fort Sill gave an official send off to more than 100 soldiers Wednesday morning on post.

The soldiers of B Battery, 1st Battalion, 14th Field Artillery are deploying to the Central Command Area of Operation for their mission. The ceremony took place at the Rinehart Fitness Center. For the majority of the battery, this will be their first deployment. This will be First Sergeant Michael McLaughlin's fifth deployment and he shared some words of advice that he had for the soldiers under him.

"The advice I would give to my soldiers would be to stay goal oriented, stay focused and don't get complacent. I also encourage my soldiers to be able to call their families as much as possible. Also, probably to keep in contact with them through Facebook or some type of social media," McLaughlin suggested.

McLaughlin says his soldiers showed total focus on the training to prepare them for their mission and says they are competent and as ready as they can be. He has served in the military for 19 years.
