Chemical explosion destroys barn

ALTUS, Okla._A man injured in an explosion and fire Thursday night in Altus suffered burns over 90 percent of his body, but he managed to run to a nearby hospital for help.

Firefighters responded to the fire around 8:30 p.m. Thursday after witnesses reported hearing an explosion and seeing flames coming from a shed. The fire chief says despite the severity of his burns, the man ran two blocks to the hospital and was later airlifted to Dallas. Fire investigators estimate total damages at about $6,000.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
