Flooding forces some evacuations in north Walters

WALTERS, Okla._ The heavy rain that poured in northern Comanche County over the weekend is forcing evacuations in Cotton County Monday morning.

Floodwaters from East Cache Creek have reached Arlington Street a few blocks east and west of Broadway in Walters. That's just a block from Highway 53. People living in several homes on the north side were forced to leave overnight. Rescue crews had to come back later for a mother and her three young children because they did not get out earlier.

In addition, firefighters with Walters and the Flower Mound Fire Departments had to rescue a man and woman who drove around the barricades on Elevator Road and had their vehicle swept off the road.
