Oklahoma State set to host NCAA Regional

Another banner year for the Oklahoma State baseball team has the Cowboys in great position as they begin the NCAA Tournament. For the second consecutive season, OSU was selected to host a Regional in the NCAA Tournament. The Cowboys will begin play in the Stillwater Regional on Friday.

Oklahoma State will open up the double elimination Regional against St. John's at 6 pm on Friday evening. The winner of that game gets the winner of Oral Roberts-Arkansas, which gets underway at noon on Friday. On paper, it's one of the toughest Regionals in the entire tournament. All four teams have won at least 35 games on the year.

"When you see St. John's pop up there as a 4-seed with close to 40 wins and knowing the type of baseball that they've historically played, that's a really good 4-seed," Cowboys head coach Josh Holliday said. "We've seen Oral Roberts and they're excellent ball club. Arkansas has been highly competitive, especially in the last 30 games of the SEC. So I think its a good tournament. There's strong ball clubs up and down the bracket for sure."

"I think there's going to be a lot of people here," said Cowboys outfielder Gage Green. "I think there will a decent crowd for each team and I think its going to be fun because its going to be a good atmosphere for everybody. We're definitely looking forward to it."

If Oklahoma State wins its Regional, it will play the winner of the Springfield, Missouri Regional next weekend in the Super Regional round. The Cowboys are looking to advance to the fourth Super Regional in program history.
