Testimony underway in Baird trial

LAWTON, Okla._Testimony is underway in the murder trial of David Baird in Lawton.

Baird is accused of killing his former wife Claudine Marroquin in September 2013 and burying her body in beneath a swimming pool in the couple's backyard.

Detective Ken Parsons testified that Wednesday that he was contacted by Marroquin's sister, who said she had not heard from Marroquin in a while. Detective Parsons said he was later contacted by police officers when they were called to Baird's home regarding a suspicious odor.

Detective Parsons testified that after talking to Baird, investigators noticed blood in the house and seized the location as a potential crime scene. While searching the house, Detective Parsons said police found Marroquin's blood in the carpet.

This is the second time that Baird has gone on trial for Marroquin's murder after the first ended in a mistrial. If found guilty, he could face up to life in prison.
