American Red Cross provides aid at Lawton High

LAWTON, Okla._The American Red Cross was called in Thursday night to open up a shelter at the Lawton High School cafeteria. It became a safe place for more than a dozen people who evacuated their homes in Central Lawton.

Daniel Farrell, of the American Red Cross, said Friday they are always prepared for disasters like this one, and can be ready to provide aid within an hour.

"The shelter trailer it's always packed with all the exact equipment that's needed and we're able to execute that and set up in a moment's notice," Farrell said.

Farrell said the shelter will remain open as long as there are flooding victims in need of a dry place to stay.
