Dutton convicted in Lawton shooting death

Lawton, OK_Bryan Dutton convicted of 1st-degree manslaughter in the shooting death of Sam Ruffin in Lawton in April 2014.

The jury recommended a sentence of 22 years in prison. Dutton was charged with 2nd-degree murder, but the jury found him guilty of the lesser charge after deliberating tonight for roughly two hours.  The jury's decision ended a day in which the defense presented just two witnesses in their 40-minute case. The prosecution presented several witnesses during the trial, including the victim's girlfriend, who was arguing with Ruffin on the night he was killed.

Dutton's formal sentencing is scheduled next month.
