Woman pleads guilty in first-degree arson case

LAWTON, Okla._Ariel Ahhaitty, the woman accused of setting fire to the home of her boyfriend's family, has pleaded guilty.

Ahhaitty was initially charged with first-degree arson after a house on Northwest 53rd Street and Ash Avenue was destroyed by fire. Fire investigators found her across the street covered in soot.

Ahhaitty entered a blind plea last week in Comanche County court. She's expected to receive her formal sentence in August.

First-degree arson is a felony and is punishable by up to 35 years in prison and a $25,000 fine.
