Annual Paradise Valley VFD fish fry to pay for rescue boat

COMANCHE COUNTY, Okla._Comanche County's Paradise Valley Volunteer Fire Department is getting ready for their annual fish fry fundraiser Saturday.

The department gets nearly half of its yearly funding from this event alone. This year, the funds will pay for a new rescue boat they purchased after the difficulties they faced rescuing a mother and her children during recent flooding in Medicine Creek.

The boat they purchased cost $19,000 and the department is hoping to lower the ISO rating in the area, which in turn lowers home insurance rates.

The meal is free, but donations are welcome. The fish fry is 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Paradise Valley Fire Department located just east of Highway 58 on Meers Porter Hill Road.
