American Indian Chamber of Commerce holds loan information luncheon

LAWTON, Okla._The American Indian Chamber of Commerce of Oklahoma held its monthly meeting to discuss how to start a business.

The meeting, held at the Fort Sill-Apache Casino, was a chance for attendees to learn about the ins and outs of starting a business. Felicia Freeman represents the Comanche Nation Revolving Loan program and spoke at the meeting. The program gives Comanche Nation tribal members access to business loans, whether it's for a business startup or expansion. Loans range from $1,000 to $300,000 and Freeman encourages tribal members to participate.

"We have two certified credit counselors on staff, so anyone who brings in an application, they may not get a 'yes' on the loan now, but they're going get free services on how to build their credit, how to prepare themselves better so that we can make the loan a success for them," said Freeman.

The revolving loan fund works with a number of partners to hold free workshops on how to successfully start a business. Workshop information can be found at www.cpcdc.org, and members interested in business loans can call 580-351-9951.
