Escaped inmate critically injured after police chase

SAND SPRINGS, Okla._An escaped inmate is in critical condition after he wrecked a stolen motorcycle during a police chase.

Sapulpa Police say the chase started near Sand Springs Thursday night after an officer spotted 37-year-old Ronald Thomas. Thomas walked away from the Jackie Brannon Correctional Center in McAlester Monday. Officers say the chase reached speeds of more than 100 mph and ended when Thomas rear-ended a pickup truck and was thrown from the motorcycle.

Thomas suffered multiple injuries to the head and chest. He was taken to a hospital in Tulsa.

Thomas was serving 20 years in prison for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle out of Washington County.
