Dog dies in highway rollover

LAWTON, Okla._A rollover accident in Pumpkin Center ended with a dog dying Friday afternoon.

It happened around 4:00 p.m. at the intersection of Highway 7 and Highway 65. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says an SUV hauling a trailer with seven dogs was eastbound on Highway 7 when the driver slammed on the brakes to avoid hitting a vehicle that pulled out in front of him.

The SUV went into a ditch and rolled on its side, causing one of the dogs to be ejected from the trailer. The other six dogs ran away.

The accident remains under investigation.
