Wound care center receives award

LAWTON, Okla._The Center for Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine at Comanche County Memorial Hospital received some special recognition.

The center was awarded the Center of Distinction Award for outstanding clinical outcomes for 2014. The award is given on several benchmarks including patient satisfaction and wound heal rate. Program director Jim Mitchell says the center saw more than 3,700 patients last year and had a wound healing rate of at least 91 percent, along with a patient satisfaction rate of more than 92 percent.

"For patients, it just means that they are going to be guaranteed the highest quality of wound care, not only in Lawton, but in the southwest Texoma area," said Mitchell.

This is the second time in five years that the center has received this award. More than 500 centers were eligible, but only 172 received it.
