Flooding, rock slide closes highways

SOUTHWEST OKLAHOMA_The following roads are closed because of flooding, rock slide or damage.

State Highway 89 in Jefferson County is closed between U.S. 70 and State Highway 32.

U.S. 70 is closed eight miles west of Ringling.

State Highway 54 in Kiowa County is closed to through traffic just south of State Highway 9 near Gotebo. Traffic is being detoured using State Highway 19 to U.S. 183 to State Highway 55.

Drivers should avoid I-35 and use U.S. 81 or U.S. 69 as an alternate route after a rock slide in the Arbuckle Mountains happened Thursday. Local traffic is being detoured to U.S. 77 at mile marker 47 near Turner Falls and back to I-35 at mile marker 51.

A State of Emergency remains in effect for all 77 counties until June 25, 2015. Under the executive order, state agencies can make emergency purchases and acquisitions needed to expedite the delivery of resources to local jurisdictions.
