Former county official will stand trial for sex crime charges

LAWTON, Okla._A former Comanche County official will stand trial this fall on charges relating to an alleged relationship with a 14-year-old boy.

Former Emergency Management Clint Wagstaff was scheduled for a preliminary hearing Wednesday afternoon. He is charged with possession of child pornography and sex crimes against a minor. Last August, he was arrested after the alleged victim's mother reported the crime.

In December, other sex crime charges were added after investigators say they found explicit photos on Wagstaff's work computer and on two hard drives.

Testimony would have been presented Wednesday for the judge to determine whether there was enough evidence for a trial. But late Wednesday afternoon, nearly an hour after the hearing was scheduled to start, the judge announced Wagstaff had waived the hearing.

That cleared the way for the judge to set a trial date, which he placed on the September docket.
