Duncan senior center surprised with new van

DUNCAN, Okla._The Douglas Senior Center in Duncan has been in need of van, and that need was met Monday.

Thanks to the kindness of several donors in the area, including Duncan Regional Hospital, the center received a new van. Shirley King, the center's activity director, was caught by surprise Monday when she was presented with the keys.

King says their old van had recently broken down, again, and the maintenance on it kept adding up. She says the new van is more than what she could ever ask for.

"It's going to mean that my seniors have a way of getting over here. I can take them on outings, so they aren't just crammed inside of here or crammed at home. It's going to change a lot of lives for the better," said King.

King says the van will also be used to help seniors get to doctor's appointments, or whatever needs the seniors may have.
