Volunteer fire department hosts firework festival

STERLING, Okla._The Sterling Volunteer Fire Department will celebrate Fourth of July weekend with their 3rd annual fundraiser.

There will be concessions, games, and live music, but of course, the main event is the fireworks show. The event is free but donations are welcomed. The money raised will go towards needed gear and fire truck equipment. Last year, the event raised about $4,000.

"For kids, adults, it's all local entertainment. We're fairly local in Lawton, Cache, and Rush Springs area. We have several singers coming out and it's just fun for the whole family," Volunteer Firefighter Steve Jung said.

The event kicks off July 4 at 4 p.m. at Ike Williams Park, with attractions that include a bounce house and dunk tank. The live music starts at 6 p.m., and the fireworks show will begin at 10 p.m.

No outside fireworks will be allowed and donation buckets will be set up throughout the park.
