Marlow police chief resigns

MARLOW, Okla._The City of Marlow has confirmed that Police Chief Jimmy Williams has resigned.

The City issued the following statement on his resignation:

"After reaching the conclusion that the City and citizens of Marlow would be better served by making a change at the position, Chief Jimmy Williams submitted his resignation effective immediately.Williams served the city as chief of police for more than five years and helped the department through a difficult time. The City of Marlow wishes Williams the best of luck in future endeavors."

In a statement posted to Williams' Facebook page, he said he was very proud of his service and thanked his fellow city employees. He went on to say that he has no immediate plans other than spending time with his family.

No word yet on how the city plans to fill the position.
