MEDICINE PARK, Okla._Bath Lake in Medicine Park is open again in time for the holiday weekend.

Area residents spent the last couple weeks diligently cleaning up damage and debris left behind from flooding in May. The lake was drained before cleanup could begin, then volunteers focused their energy on clearing the sharp debris and rocks in the area where children swim.

Charley Wright, who was in charge of the cleanup effort, says it took a lot of help from dozens of volunteers, including Fort Sill service members.

“We spread about 40 acres of sand. We had a group from Fort Sill out here and they worked their butts off. If it wasn't for them, we probably wouldn't have got it done, we'd still be out here spreading sand in the creek,” said Wright.

Wright says the lake is probably the cleanest it's ever been. They plan to do more repairs in the fall.
