Homeowner turns himself in after starting fire

LAWTON, Okla._The house fire near Southwest 3rd Street and Washington Avenue has been ruled an arson and of the homeowners turned himself.

Verna Ward Jr. turned himself in to the Comanche County Detention Center Thursday evening and confessed to starting the fire at his home. Ward said that when his wife left to file divorce paperwork, he poured gasoline over the house and lit the fire. No one else was in the home when the fire was set.

Ward has a history of PTSD and his wife believes that is what drove him to set the fire.

He's been charged with second-degree arson.
