15,000 expected at Marlow's Independence Day celebration

MARLOW, Okla._The City of Marlow is gearing up for its big Fourth of July celebration.

The day will kick off with a parade down Main Street. All day, people can head to Redbud Park for food, music and carnival rides. Marlow's own Chance Anderson will be the headliner for the concert that begins at 6:30 p.m. Marlow City Manager Jason McPherson says the city's Fourth of July celebration is a day they hold close.

"It's a fabric of growing up in Marlow, you're here on the Fourth, you don't make plans to go anywhere else, you want to be here, you want to see what's going on, you want to see what's new, it's just a part of being from Marlow," McPherson said.

McPherson says he expects up to 15,000 people to be out for the celebration throughout the day. The concert will be followed by a firework celebration that will wrap up the night of festivities.
