Missing driver in police custody, person of interest in bank robbery

LAWTON, Okla._The search for the man who left the scene of a late night car wreck that seriously injured his female passenger has ended, and now he's wanted in connection to a Wichita Falls bank robbery.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol said they arrested 32-year-old Dalon Ray Pointer Tuesday evening in Cyril. Pointer is currently being held at the Comanche County Detention Center. He was booked on a complaint of leaving the scene of an accident that included bodily injury.

The crash happened early Saturday morning on East 135th Street near Gore Boulevard when the driver went off the road and hit a tree, and then walked away from the crash. The woman riding with him, Angel Salazar, suffered internal injuries and was taken to OU Medical Center, where she is still at.

Pointer was arraigned in Comanche County Wednesday.

Friends and family of Angel Salazar have set up a GoFundMe account to help pay for medical expenses.

Wichita Falls police issued an arrest warrant for Dalon Pointer for being a person of interest in Monday's bank robbery. Following the robbery of Fort Sill Nation Bank, surveillance photos were released to the public and the investigation led to Pointer. Pointer was no longer considered a suspect in the robbery on July 21.

The case remains under investigation.
