LAWTON, Okla._People were lined up Thursday evening to get fitted for the perfect pair of running or walking shoes for the 2015 Spirit of Survival.
During the training kickoff event, race director Lori Cummins said hundreds of people came out to Dick's Sporting Goods where they were able to register for the event and the 12-week training program.
"I'm really thrilled and excited about that, because that means that there are a lot of people out there in our community who are getting active, who are getting healthy and who are just supporting the cause of raising money for cancer research," Cummins said.
October 4 will mark the 10th anniversary of the race. The 12-week training program begins this coming Monday. And the first group training session will take place on Saturday, July 18, at 7 a.m. at Dicks Sporting Goods.
