Three people recovering after pickup crashes into creek

LAWTON, Okla._Three people were taken to the hospital after an overnight crash near Lawton landed their pickup upside down in Medicine Bluff Creek.

Oklahoma Highway Patrol says the truck was headed southbound on I-44 around midnight when the driver fell asleep, veered off the left side of the roadway and flipped upside down into the creek.

A trooper says the driver was air-lifted to Comanche County Memorial Hospital; two passengers were also taken there to be treated. No word on if they've been released, but they were all expected to survive.

OHP says the driver had a learner's permit, but no license.

The crash blocked traffic on the interstate and while OHP worked the scene. One trooper says he was nearly hit by another driver. That driver was arrested after a sobriety test revealed they had a blood alcohol content level of .15, which is almost twice the legal limit.
