Defendant throws pitcher at prosecutor, breaks tooth

TULSA, Okla. (AP) - Authorities say a defendant in a child kidnapping case threw a water pitcher at prosecutors in a Tulsa court, breaking one of their teeth.

Justin Green with the Tulsa County Sheriff's Office says 34-year-old Michael Slatton was walking back to his seat after testifying at his competency hearing when he took a plastic water pitcher from the judge's stand and threw it at prosecutors.

The pitcher struck Assistant District Attorney Katie Koljack in the face, splitting her lip and breaking a tooth. Slatton was subdued by sheriff's deputies and Koljack received medical attention.

Green said Slatton, who was wearing handcuffs and ankle shackles at the time, will face additional complaints of assault and battery on an officer of the court, maiming and willful disturbance of a state court.
