1 arrested in Lawton homicide, police still investigating

LAWTON, Okla._Police made an arrest in the city's latest homicide.

Police arrested 38-year-old James Timothy Davis Jr. Sunday night. Investigators say after interviewing Davis, along with looking at other evidence, they arrested him in the stabbing death of 36-year-old Keith Wayne Kern

Kern’s death happened late Friday night near Southwest 18th Street and "A" Avenue. Officials say Kern was walking with two other people when he was attacked. One person called 911 while the other tried to keep him alive until first responders got there. Kern was taken to a nearby hospital, but later died.

Davis was booked on a complaint of second-degree murder and possession of marijuana. Davis has not been formally charged.

Police are still processing evidence and interviewing possible witnesses. It is not clear if anyone else was involved in Kern’s death.
