City truck seriously injures teen during accident

DUNCAN, Okla._A teenager was taken to an Oklahoma City hospital in serious condition Thursday after he was hit by a Duncan Power truck.

Duncan police say a 15-year-old boy was riding his bicycle when he was hit by a Duncan Power and Light truck at the intersection of 5th Street and Elm Avenue. One witness says the teen was riding his bike with his younger brother when the accident happened, and describes hearing a crash and screams for help.

"He was face down and still as could be. You know at first, I just went into shock, I just thought maybe he was dead,” said Alexis Duran.

Duran says she and her brother were able to flip the teen over onto his back. She says he was trying to stand up, but they were able to keep him calm until medical personnel arrived. He was MediFlighted to an Oklahoma City hospital with unknown injuries.

The intersection was shut down for a couple of hours as investigators worked to reconstruct the accident.

The teenager was upgraded to fair condition by Friday morning.
